• PREFACE
  "This was my first trip to a South East Asian country. I was shocked at the third worldness of Nagoya, (Nagoya is the largest city on the Island of Batam, which is part of the Riau Islands of Indonesia), and had a hard time getting used to it."
• GETTING THERE.
  "No signs that I could see indicated this was a ferry terminal or where to buy ferry tickets. I looked around for the ticket stands and could not see them. So I walked along the mall looking for the ticket stands."
• TAXIS
  "I never really understood the taxi system, even after reading about it on the net and trying to use it every day for 8 days."
• HOTELS
  "My room at the Melia was on the fifth of seventeen floors. It had a very huge bed, easily sleeping four adults, twice as big as a double bed. (Thoughts of wild orgies immediately filled my mind.) "
• SHOPPING
  "There are small stores all over the place, all have a few of those mangy looking Indo guys just loitering around the entrance. I entered three or four of them. Once inside, the mostly female clerks were generally nice, and sometimes happy to see a foreigner."
• MASSAGE
  "Twenty minutes later, an unattractive, near fifty woman about 30 pounds overweight knocked on my door. Fine, I was really just hoping for a really good straight massage anyway. This lady looked like she could do it."
• BOOKINGS
  "I had hoped the girls would be my personal guide around Batam when not otherwise occupied at the hotel. That was a big mistake. "
• GIRL 1
  "It was my very first day in Batam, I wanted to get right down to business, er, I mean pleasure. And I wanted to try to forget the horrid massage lady."
