There is already a lot of info about the booking system in Batam. Here is my take.
Prices seemed to be pretty much set. I tried to negotiate once, but with no success. I took a taxi to two places, Queens Bee and Sensasi. At Queens, the driver did not enter with me to collect a commission. He waited outside with the car. He still may have received one though, I have no idea. At Sensasi, the taxi drove off after I paid him. So no commission there either? Prices quoted to me were either 260,000 or 280,000 long time every place I went, and 140,000 or 160,000 short time, inclusive of room fee. Most places opened in the early afternoon, closed 5pm to 7pm for dinner, then reopened. I figured I should get the most for my money, take the girl early in the afternoon and have the pleasure of her company for nearly 24 hours. That did not work out very well except with the last girl. I had hoped the girls would be my personal guide around Batam when not otherwise occupied at the hotel. That was a big mistake. Some of them do not know their way around very well, and all were uncomfortable to some extent going around town with me. We were subject to far more disapproving looks and catcalls than I had ever imagined.
Moreover, I was asking the girls to do something they did not normally do. Batam is mostly a weekend playground for Singapore guys. It seems the regular routine or a common scenario for the Sing guys is to go around to the booking joints in the afternoon, make their selections, but not take them out right away. The guys go out together, eat and drink and enjoy a boys night out. Then the girls are delivered to their room later that evening for straight sex. The girls leave the next morning, often fairly early, 8 or 9am. A couple of days I sat in the lobby of the Melia after an early breakfast and always saw a couple of young girls leaving the hotel alone at that time. Yea, alone. Never saw a guy accompany the girl downstairs and see her off in a taxi or anything. Only twice did I see what I thought was a working girl eating breakfast with her customer at the hotel. I was not real comfortable with that kind of deal. I think I wanted things to be more like a real date or something. I always invited my guest for breakfast, and the hotel staff never said anything when the two of us ate. But we always got some unfriendly stares from some of the other patrons. After 4 days of bucking the system, I decided to go along with it. I did not like it very much, pretty impersonal to me. But the girls seemed very comfortable just having sex at night (more than once?), again in the morning, and out the door early with no breakfast, leaving me in the bed alone. I realized I had a better time with the girl when she was comfortable, even though it was more impersonal than what I wanted. I gave up on trying to get the girls to do anything more than have sex, go out to dinner, and lay around the rest of the time. And I had much better success.
Short time bookings. I gotta comment on the short time rooms. Yech!!! I went short time twice, once at Sensasi, once at Dynasty99. Both times the rooms were very small, dingy, dirty bed covers, completely ineffective air con, just a bucket of cold water for a shower a drain in the corner that was the toilet, one had no towels (the girl used the dirty bed sheet as a towel). The room was not conducive to a relaxed experience at all, and I found myself struggling to just go through the motions. I actually tried to finish up as fast as I could in order to get out. Absolutely no sensuality at all. Sweat poured off my face and entire body, dripping onto the poor little thing beneath me making me very self conscious, which of course just made everything worse.
Three times I asked girls to stay a second day, after having a fairly decent first night, and not wanting to risk starting over with a new girl. All agreed. The first time I went back to the club with the girl, paid the manager for another day, waited for her to get a change of clothes, and ran back to the hotel. The second girl was arranged by my guide who handled the payment for me. We did not have to go back to the club at all. The third one I let go back to the club on her own in the morning and went back later in the afternoon to book her again.
If I go again, I would definitely follow the standard operating procedure more closely, booking the girls for the nights, spending the days alone, unless there was already a good chemistry established and the girl clearly wanted to spend a whole 24 hour day (or more) with me. I am sure there are guys who take the girls early and have a great time. I guess there are girls who like going all day and night, probably depends a lot on the guy they are with. I am only relating my personal experience.
