HOW TO GET TO BATAM
* Five airlines fly Batam-Jakarta daily.
* Four different ferry companies have hourly departures from Singapore's World Trade Centre (WTC) Ferry Terminal (FT) to Sekupang (Skp) and Batam Centre (BC) in Batam. The best boats are operated by Berlian Wavemaster and Penguin. Batam is one hour behind Singapore. If all goes well, (usually) the ferry trip takes about an hour. It is possible (but unusual) for a ferry trip to take more than 90 minutes or less than 50 minutes.
PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS
To enter Indonesia, your passport must be valid for 6 months. Holders of passports from India, South Africa, Israel, China, Russia must get a visa in advance.
